Greetings to all of you!  Spring is just around the corner and that usually means most of us are in the middle of lambing right now.  This has been a ram lamb year for me, with 3 sets of triplets and big single lambs. Hope all of you that have lambed already have had a successful year and those of you who haven't started lambing,  have a good year as well.
This is election year for the LLSBA.  Ballots for nominations for officers are going out in the mail today.  Your nominations for the following offices are needed:
President,  Vice-President,  Secretary/Treasurer/Registrar and  2 Flock Representatives.
Please fill out the form and return it to me by March 31st.  New officers will be announced at the Annual Meeting on
May 2, 2008 at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival.  A reminder will be sent out about the meeting to all of the membership, that will include the place and time of the meeting.
We have had several new members join this year.  We welcome all of you to the Leicester Longwool Sheep Breeders Association!!!  It's nice to see there is still interest in helping preserve the breed.  Thanks to all of you who have joined!!!
The Fall Conference and Workshop that was hosted by Colonial Williamsburg last November was a wonderful success!  Everyone who participated had a wonderful time and so much was learned by everyone. Thanks to Elaine and the Williamsburg staff for making us all feel welcome.
I have received several inquiries from people wanting to purchase sheep.  If any of you have sheep for sale, please let me know so I can forward your names on to these people.  I will put them in touch directly with you.
The Leicester Longwools have been chosen as the Featured Breed at the 2009 New York Sheep and Wool Festival.  Elaine, Kelly and I are getting a schedule together for all of the events that will be going on at the Festival. As soon as it is compiled we will get the information out to the membership to let you know what all we will be doing. It is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to showcase the Leicester's and put them out before the public.  It will include a card grading show, a country store with talks and classes about the Leicester Longwool's. We will need volunteers to help put this together, so, please, volunteer!!  We need all the help we can get to make this a success!
Just a reminder about registrations and transfers:  please make sure you send a transfer form along with the certificates when you sell a sheep to someone, not just the certificate.  This is needed to record the transfer.  Also, please make sure your registrations and transfers include all of the information asked for.  If you don't know a LLSBA number or are unsure about what is needed, please contact me before you send it in.  I will help you fill out your forms.
Good luck to all of you during lambing this year - I hope you are blessed with lots of ewe lambs!!
Best wishes,
Joan Henry
Sec/Tres/Registrar
